England registered a big victory over India in the ongoing Test series. The hosts won the fourth Test match by an innings and 76 runs in Leeds on Thursday. With this win, England has taken a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

Resuming their first innings on 278 for six, India added just 78 runs to their overnight total. Joe Root was the pick of the England bowlers, taking four wickets. Sam Curran and Ollie Robinson also chipped in with three wickets each.

In reply, England piled up 432 runs in their first innings, thanks to a brilliant century from Jonny Bairstow. Bairstow scored 124 runs off 154 balls. Jos Buttler also made a valuable contribution with an unbeaten 80.

With a lead of 154 runs, England enforced the follow-on. India, however, failed to put up a fight in their second innings, being bundled out for just 278 runs. Ravindra Jadeja top-scored for India with 53 runs.

England's victory was set up by their disciplined bowling performance. The hosts bowled with great accuracy and consistency, making it difficult for the Indian batsmen to score runs. Root was particularly impressive, bowling with great control and variation.

The win gives England a major boost in the series. The hosts will now be looking to seal the series in the fifth and final Test, which will be played at Old Trafford from September 10-14.
